Christ Died for All

Introduction:

II Corinthians 5:14-15 declares one of the grandest themes in all of the Bible:  Jesus Christ died for all.

Text:  Romans 15:8-13

Paul uses four quotations from the Old Testament to prove Christ died for all, Jew and Gentile.

Body:

 I. God Is Praised by the Gentiles in song.

  • “Promise of the patriarchs” (Verse 8 Genesis 17:5-6                      Note:  Romans 4:13-16  Nations included Gentiles
  • Quotes from Psalms 18:49 (Verse 9) Jehovah extended His mercy by His Son dying for all, both Jew and Gentile.  Ephesians 2:11-13

II. Gentile and Jew Rejoice Over Their Salvation (Verse 10

  • Quotes from Deuteronomy 32:43
  • Gentiles partake of the same promises and blessings because they are fellow heirs.  Ephesians 3:6-8
  • These promises and blessings came to those in Christ.             Galatians 3:25-28

III. Gentiles Praise God for His Steadfast Love (Verse 11

  • Quotes from Psalms 117:1-2
  • The Gentiles praise God for the love shown them.  Acts 13:46-48
  • Jerusalem Council  Acts 15:12-17

IV. Gentiles Praise God for Sending the Messiah (Verse 12

  • Quotes from Isaiah 11:10 This is prophecy about the Messiah.
  • It predicts the Messiah would be a descendant of Jesse,       David’s father.  Matthew 1:1-6  “Genealogy”
  • It predicts He would rule over all nations.  Philippians 2:9-11
  • Gentiles would hope in Him.  Colossians 1:24-27

Invitation:

Read Romans 15:13.  The God of hope will fill both Jew and Gentile with joy and peace to those who submit to Christ’s rule over them.
