Glorify God in the
Church
Introduction
(Ephesians 3:21)
To Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations.
Gods purpose for His people is clear: glorify Him. Today we examine
how a congregation brings glory to Godin worship, benevolence,
teaching the lost, and strengthening the saved. (Ephesians 3:21)
The Church
Exists to Glorify God
God owns us; we were bought at a price. Therefore, we must glorify
Him in body and spirit. This is congregational work as well as
personal duty. When the church speaks or serves, God supplies the
ability so that in all things
He is glorified through Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 6:20; 1 Peter
4:11)
Glorifying
God in Worship
Worship is God-centered. In heavens throne room, elders fall,
crowns are cast, and God is praised as Creator and Sustainer. Our
assemblies should echo that sceneprayer, singing, the Lords
Supper, giving, and hearing the word offered with reverent hearts.
Presence and participation matter; worship that honors God engages
both. (Revelation 4:1011; John 4:2324; Hebrews 10:2425)
Glorifying
God in Doing Good
Good works glorify the Father when done in His name. The Lord calls
us to shine so that others see and glorify God. We do good to all,
especially the household of faith, visiting the fatherless and
widows in their affliction. Mercy and service point beyond us to
Him. (Matthew 5:16; Galatians 6:10; James 1:27)
Glorifying
God in Teaching the Lost
Christ came to seek and save the lost. He sends us to preach the
gospel to every creature. We sow the seed, trusting that faith comes
by hearing. Invitations, tracts, studies, conversations, and online
efforts all honor God when they carry His saving message. (Luke
19:10; Mark 16:1516; Romans 10:17; Acts 8:4)
Glorifying
God in Strengthening the Saved
New disciples must be strengthened. Paul returned to exhort
churches, establishing souls in the faith. We build up one another
by the word, prayer, and mutual care, so that every member grows
into Christ. Edification is congregational glory rendered to God.
(Acts 14:2122; Acts 20:32; Ephesians 4:1116)
